Notes:  This piece was inspired by a line of text in a book that has influenced my thinking about many things.  The title of that book is Origins of the Sacred: The Ecstasies of Love and War, written by Dudley Young.  The line that led to the print goes like this:  "Thus the wall we first build to protect and venerate our sacred tree may turn it to stone in the end."

Obviously there is some symbolism at work in this image.  Personally, I prefer not to tell the observer what to see.  If you should want a more detailed discussion, please feel free to contact me.
