"Once Were Buttercups"
Title: "Once Were Buttercups"
Medium: copper plate engraving Size: 5" x 8 3/4" Price: $100 ( unframed ) Notes: This piece is an earlier one and exists mainly as an exploration of a couple of challenges to the "drawing" in an engraving. Engraving is accomplished by cutting lines into a copper plate with a steel tool. Historically, engravings have a tendency towards straight lines and cross hatching. The creation of areas of heavy dark value are twofold: You have only lines to work with and have to try to make a surface that is not as static as a cross hatch can be. This print is an exploration of some of the possibilities that curvilinear engraving might offer, both in creating value and describing form. Once Were Buttercups price (unframed) : $100 |
